The U.S. Customs will no longer accept the declaration of goods with any vague descriptions.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that starting from November 12, 2024, it will no longer accept the data of U.S. imported goods that contain vague descriptions. If the description of the goods declared is deemed vague by the CBP and rejected, enterprises like FedEx may refuse to receive the goods at the place of origin or detain the goods at the place of origin until complete data that meets the requirements are provided. FedEx has specifically reminded its customers that it is crucial to provide accurate descriptions of the goods when creating shipments to ensure compliance with the regulations of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Since the effective date, any goods deemed to have vague descriptions by the CBP will be rejected and may lead to delays. An accurate description can clearly indicate the material and usage of the commodity. For example, it should be described in detail as "children's toys made of plastic" instead of simply labeled as "toys"; likewise, it should be described as "women's clothing made of 60% cotton and 40% polyester" rather than generally called "clothing". After the implementation of this measure, if handwritten airway bills are used for goods sent to the United States, it may result in an increase of one day in the transportation time.
